Vinyasa yoga links postures together through breath-led movement. Sequences can be creative and varied, moving from warming shapes into standing, balancing or floor-based work before slowing towards relaxation. The experience depends greatly on the teacher and the stated class level.

Choosing a class
Vinyasa may suit people who enjoy variety, coordinated movement and a class with momentum. It can appeal to active beginners when the class is clearly described as introductory, as well as established students looking for a dynamic practice.
Your first session
Expect movements to be linked into sequences and coordinated with inhaling or exhaling. A class often begins gradually, builds through repeated flows or standing sequences, then returns to slower floor work and relaxation. Teachers may demonstrate different options, but some familiarity with common poses can help in faster classes.
Use a non-slip yoga mat and comfortable, breathable clothing. You may want water for a vigorous session. Blocks can make transitions and standing poses more accessible; ask whether the venue supplies them.
